Free Things To Do in Your City

I know that a common misconception is that nothing in life is free but I'm here to tell you, that's bull.  There are plenty great free things to do and free places to be, you just have to search for them.

Try your local about town newspaper.  Here in Memphis, we have The Memphis Flyer, a wonderful publication that has loads of free and inexpensive activities for the family, couples, and singles.  You just have to open the pages or check out their website.   Look under We Recommend  or type free into the on site search.

Check out the internet.  Just by Googling the words free stuff, I was able to find a website with a whole list of things to do and places to go around Memphis for free.    Things like a moonlit stroll along the Mississippi River, the Mud Island River Park, the Memphis Zoo free days, and the daily March of the Peabody Ducks.

Make sure you have your location properly entered in the left of your Google search screen and voila`!

Do this search once a week and you'll never be without weekend plans.  There is always something to do and plenty of ways to live it up in a down economy.  With a little perseverance, a mouse and a keyboard, you can open up a whole new world of discount and  free entertainment in your city.   If I can find a whole list of things to do for free in New York City, so can you.

Tell me about some of the fun things you've found.

If you are like Faith D., a native of Memphis, TN, then here are some things you can try for free:

Free TV

Free TV?  Why yes, there is such a thing.  If you have a computer -- you probably wouldn't be reading this if you didn't-- , and enough bandwith to view those annoying commercial ads that seem to be on everyone's site, you'll be able to watch some of your favorite shows and movies for free!

If you are like hubby and I, you don't have or cannot afford cable, and you lost all of your "free" basic channels in the great digital shift a few years ago.  I even have digital TVs with built in tuners but pixelation makes them pretty much unwatchable.  So we found ourselves in a dilemma.

Actually, we were freaking out! We couldn't watch Supernatural or How I Met Your Mother anymore without missing half the show while the pixels tried to unfreeze themselves.

It sucked.

Save At Ryan's and Buffets, Inc. Buffets

Ryan's buffet has always been a favorite place to eat for me. If there's one thing my husband and I like its a good buffet. At Ryan's we get a great home cooked meal (that I don't have to cook) with a nice family atmosphere. You can find us at our local Ryan's quite often.

What many people don't know is that Ryan's not only has great food, but they have a great email saving club as well.

Not only that, Ryan's is just one of many franchises owned by Buffets, Inc. Buffets Inc. has many locations across the United States under the names: Fire Mountain, Old Country Buffet, HomeTown Buffet, Granny's Buffet, Ryan's and Country Buffet.

Just Call Me Faith D Queen Of Free

My sister says I have a strange knack for finding things for free or getting a great discount.  It's true.  I don't believe in paying full price unless I cannot find it anywhere else for better. People are always asking me where I got this or how I got that. Then, they're amazed at the fact that I paid a third of what they paid for it.

I carry a bright pink Liz Claiborne purse that I bought brand new at the store for $2.00.    Of course this was a extreme case.  I'd be very hard pressed to find that sort of deal again but my last Apostrophe bag and  the last Nine West purse I bought cost a whopping $11.  How? Because I don't mess around when it comes to finding a deal.
